Ecclesiastes 2

Listen Later

In Ecclesiastes 2, Solomon continues evaluating life and the meaning of life. He experimented with one thing after the other applying the wisdom God had poured into him. In this chapter, he evaluates the pleasures of life as well as life's work. Solomon had anything he could ever want at his disposal. No matter how much entertainment, wine, or fleshly pleasures he indulged in - it all left him empty. He built great buildings, cities, vineyards, and orchards. He loved projects. But even in work, he found it all left him empty. He will come to the solid conclusion that the temporary pleasures of life will never fill your soul like the Lord does. No project on the face of the earth will bring satisfaction unless you are doing it for the Lord. Fullness of life comes when we are submitted to the Lord and enjoy His blessings knowing they are His. Satisfaction comes when we steward His blessings well for His glory and His eternal Kingdom. No matter what we do or say, if we are doing it for the Lord, He will bring fulness and satisfaction to our lives and souls. Pursue Jesus, seek to please Him, and trust Him to meet every need. Rejoice in the Giver, and humbly thank Him for His gifts.
