Ecclesiology 101: Jesus Promises and Produces the Church
The Church is not mentioned in the Old Testament. Jesus mentions the Church first in Matthew 16 as being yet future. In Matthew, Jesus predicts the creation of the Church, the relation of the Church, and the mission of the Church. In Acts, Jesus promises power for the Church in the soon-coming of the Holy Spirit. Then Jesus brings the Church into existence by means of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.
