With this simple word, Jesus names physical need. He is thirsty. This reminds us that Jesus truly suffers in body and soul. He is not distant from human weakness or pain. At the same time, John tells us that this moment fulfills Scripture. This sermon invites us to hold both truths together. Jesus’ suffering is real, and it is purposeful. Nothing about His pain is wasted. He knows our needs because He has shared them.
