On this episode we chat with vocalist and front "ghoul" of None More Negative, Xero Silver. This self-proclaimed "Wold's Worst Tribute to Type O Negative" do the legendary cult band justice both live and with videos such as All Hallow's Eve directed by Mike Sloat and their latest, Creepy Green Light. NON clearly understands the balance of sorrow and satire that launched the Slow, Deep and Hard grooves and infectious melodies of TON into the limelight.
A long time fan of goth, industrial, and horror, Xero became involved with None More Negative after discovering Type O Negative and auditioning as a backup vocalist for the bay area tribute band. As fate would have it, their singer went MIA and Xero became the lead singer. And, oddly enough, she fits the role perfectly! We think the surviving members of Type O would highly approve; in fact Xero has met a few of them but is yet to meet her idol, the band's keyboardist and engineer/producer, Josh Silver (last name not a coincidence). Did Xero go so far as traveling to Brooklyn in the hopes she'd get injured and EMT Josh would come to her rescue? Well, duh. This is part of the Type O Negative mastermind we're talking about, not a vanilla helping of Maroon 5.
Along with fronting None More Negative, Xero has been featured in music videos directed by Eric Livingston for Ipecac Recording artists Dead Cross and Mike Patton & Jean Claude Vannier, and starred in the recent bizarre short film 'Vampire Mermaid from Outer Space' Bizarre? Yeah. The entire cast and crew shot the film on mushrooms. We get some backstory into this and Xero's other artistic endeavors as well as the usual chitchat about bands we love and, on this episode in particular, we dig into some we "hate". Xero was a cooperative ghoul and did not let us down with her disgust of those acts she does not approve. However, we all have excellent taste and therefore discuss our love of Seattle grunge bands and even try to name favorite albums (which provers difficult!). Other topics include food (green beans), movies and the basic usual chitchat. Enjoy!
RIP Peter Steele.
Intro Music: Bionic as Hell by Skunk Manhattan
