Ecosystem Changes in the Arctic due to Climate Change

In this final April episode focused on climate, Ambassador Megan Westervelt interviews ecologist Brooke Biddlecombe, a doctoral student at the University of Manitoba in Canada, about her research with polar bears and Artic whale species, all of whom rely on Artic Sea ice to survive. With the changing climate, the ecosystem that these animals depend on has been fragmented and impacted in many ways, although not all of them are as detrimental as we might think. Brooke gives listeners hope through her scientific findings and advice for what we can all do to help preserve this fragile and frigid ecosystem.
