Eddie Woo is the high school maths teacher and internet sensation who won the Australia Day Local Hero award in 2018. After one student couldn’t make it to class, he decided to film his maths classes and put them on YouTube. Now he’s reached millions of people all around the world with his Wootube channel. He says he’s not a teacher who’s a Christian, he a Christian who’s a teacher. He said my understanding of the reason people are given the gifts they have is to server those around them, both in the Christian context and in the world today. he says that you only have to scratch a little beneath the surface of any subject to find the design of God in it. But with mathematics, it’s so obvious. We talk about the fact that the universe is designed in this way and you can find all of these patterns. Do you thing that’s a coincidence? One of the things he loves to point out is that we call the universe the Cosmos. Which means ordered and structured and designed as opposed to Chaos. And the reason that we find these mathematical principals, is because there was a designer. We didn’t just spring into being. It has immense beauty. Why on earth should the equations of earth be beautiful? The answer is because we have a beautiful designer, who designs things beautifully.
