We are in a series called on the the goodness of work. We explored Genesis 1 and 2 and saw the glory of humanity. But God’s original vision was short-lived, and then there is Genesis 3. A tragic inversion takes place as Adam and Eve become ruled over, and instead of work being worship, we have the worship of work. Genesis 3 unveils how the kings and queens of earth begin to rule for themselves and not in partnership with the Creator. Work is now the place where we look for identity and status. It is Babel all over again (one of the stories right after the Eden debacle). Our study this week is called: Eden in the Rear-view Mirror.
