Welcome to Breaking Down Barriers in Braganza, the podcast where we explore how design and architecture shape our communities.

In this podcast we are diving into architectural barriers—the physical obstacles that prevent many people from fully accessing our built environment.

When we talk about architectural barriers, we mean design features that unintentionally make it hard for people, especially those with disabilities, to use a space. Think of stairs without ramps or light switches placed too high

In the past, many buildings were made without thinking about accessibility. Designers focused on looks or saving money instead. We must balance preserving history with creating accessible spaces for everyone.

People with disabilities often face barriers, including physical inaccessibility, lack of awareness among staff, and social exclusion due to misconceptions or stigma.
