The Edmonton Oilers wrapped up their four-game Western Conference road trip with a disappointing 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night. Entering the night with a chance to clinch a Stanley Cup Playoff berth, the Oilers couldn’t quite pull off the comeback, despite a solid late push.

It was a night of firsts, as Olivier Rodrigue made his first career NHL start. The young goaltender held his own in the crease, keeping the Oilers in the game throughout, but the team couldn’t generate enough offense to support him. Without their usual firepower and several key players still out of the lineup, the Oilers simply didn’t have enough to overcome the Ducks.
