Miriam Ezzani, assistant professor of educational leadership at TCU, learned about disproportionate rates of Black students disciplined in school districts. Teacher interactions with Black students differed down to facial expressions and word choice. She worked with school leaders to institute anti-oppressive systems, which could play a big role in addressing structural inequality, especially how it is reinforced in the educational system.
