Edward simply could not stay on a hunting trip with Emmett while there were dangerous vampires in Forks (even though they’ve promised not to hunt anywhere near the Northwest), so he spends a few days hopping from tree to tree to keep a watchful eye on Bella until the clouds come back to cover the sun and he can go to school again.
