Today we’re going to be discussing a grief that is felt and is present even when there isn’t a death of someone we love. Instead, it’s the death of the life and the world we thought we had when we’re given a terminal health diagnosis. And this not only affects the person but also their loved ones.

Our guest today is Edward Miskie, a writer, producer, and performer, who is now celebrating 10 years of surviving a rare type of cancer!

Here’s what (and who) we talk about:

  • Blazing through life with musicals and making friends, then suddenly lying down in a hospital bed.
  • Edward’s way of denying and attempting to gain control over his diagnosis.
  • “Hurry up and do it while you’re still breathing.”
  • Using humor to face death. It’s necessary to deal with your emotions in various ways.
  • Edward’s experience of finally being cancer-free.
  • The value of figuring out what you really want in life – from small things like food to bigger things like who you want to be!
  • And much more!
