Following several reports that suggest that the US has expressed great concern and seeks clarity from the South African government around General Maphanywa’s recent visit to Iran. The EFF has warned the Trump Administration not to interfere with SA’s internal affairs, emphasising the fact that South Africa is an independent country and ‘we reserve the right to pursue trade, diplomatic and military relations with whomever we deem fit, including Iran.
