Ask ourselves this:

What's the fear that arises once we start to move beyond our pattern? Fear is part of our egoic identity. Our ego doesn't want to die. It's the uncomfortable space of, "Who would I be without the story, without the pattern, without this operating system, and without this way of being?"

We are not our egos.

We're not feeling those feelings; we're feeling the interpretation of the mental narrative of that neutral sensation, and then we're creating suffering.

In essence, we don't actually feel that way. It's our condition bundle of reflexes vibrating back to what our patterns and programming are.

That's ego.
