It's great to be back.
The week is a perfect patch in the fabric of life, every week being exactly the same size and shape; seven days, twenty-four hours, one hundred and sixty eight hours in total. But every week is different in texture, tone and colour, some lighter, some darker, some fuller, some less so, some stressful, some joyful. Imagine fifty-two of them sewn together into a wonderfully beautiful, individual, unique patchwork quilt representing one year of your life.
In this week's "Coffee with Colm" I take that imagery and expand it to cover the eighty one years of life that someone on this side of the world is expected to enjoy on average.
Eighty-one Patchwork Quilts is all you have. How many have you discarded, thrown off the bed? What were they like? How many have you left? What would you like them to be like?
I invite you to stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and think with me for a few minutes in your preferred way...
