(8.20.24)

In this portion, Moses continues his final discourse to the Israelites before they enter the Promised Land. He reminds them that their blessings and prosperity in the land will depend on their obedience to Yahuah's commandments. Moses emphasizes that their success is not due to their own righteousness but because of יהוה promises to their ancestors. He recounts the dangers they faced in the wilderness and warns against becoming proud and forgetting the lessons learned through their dependence on Yahuah.

Moses also reflects on the Israelites' history of rebellion, including the incident of the Golden Calf, and how יהוה showed mercy despite their disobedience. He encourages them to remain faithful and to keep יהוה commandments, statutes, and ordinances, as their faithfulness will lead to continued blessings. The portion underscores the importance of humility, gratitude, and remembering that all their achievements are gifts from Yahuah, not the result of their own merit.
