El Porto Surf Report Small Clean Waves Perfect for Beginners and Technique Training Today

Listen Later

Good morning, surfers. Here's your El Porto report for today.

We're looking at small, clean conditions perfect for anyone wanting to dial in their technique. Right now we've got one foot of swell with that glassy texture we all dream about. Light east winds at four to six miles per hour are keeping everything smooth and peeling nicely.

The primary swell is coming from the west at one point seven feet with seven-second intervals between sets. Don't expect anything huge today—we're running one to two feet across the break, which is well below yesterday's forecast of three to four feet. But honestly, that's not necessarily a bad thing if you're looking to work on fundamentals.

Now let's talk about the tide. Low tide hit early this morning around four forty-eight, and high tide is rolling in at ten forty-five. We'll see that low tide of point seven feet in the morning giving way to a mid-morning high. Keep in mind that tide shifts here at El Porto can really change how those peaks shape up. Generally, smaller tides give you more consistent banks to work with.

Here's the thing about timing your session today: early morning between six and ten in the morning is your sweet spot. That's when you get the cleanest conditions with minimal wind texture and small, super manageable waves. Mid-morning through early afternoon is still pretty solid, but expect the afternoon to get a bit messier as things chop up. By evening, once that wind shifts northwest and picks up to around nine miles per hour, you're looking at chop city.

Looking ahead to this weekend, Sunday's shaping up similarly small. We're talking zero to one foot at six in the morning, building to around one foot by afternoon. Morning sessions will be cleaner with lighter winds, so if you're planning a weekend session, get there early.

Bottom line: this is a small swell period overall, great for practicing your pop-ups and getting comfortable in the water, but advanced surfers looking for a challenge might want to wait for better conditions. If you're a beginner or just want some easy, learnable waves, today's your day. Get out there and enjoy it.
