This is the first in a monthly series of interviewing Elders from different communities.
Secunda Joseph from All Real Radio's Sunday's line up, Imagine A World, co-hosts with me as we interview Ms. Sandra and Mr. Walters about Fifth Ward. We talk about the history of divestment from communities and outline parallels of what happened then, and what is happening now.
As gentrification sweeps Harris County, it is important to capture the knowledge available to us. The goal of this series is to record the happenings and history through the Elders and submit it to library archives, so that when the kids are ready to listen, they have access to their community's history.
