Authority gets a bad rap in our culture. We fail to realize that the problem is not with people having authority, but in it being used inappropriately. After all, where would the world go if no one was in charge? In Christ’s church, both the members and the elders have an authority to exercise. Getting clarity on the realm of that authority is essential for the unified, thriving work of an elder-led, congregational church.
