For a few hours on Thursday, election betting was legal here in the United States. A judge said it was okay, but a quickly-filed appeal put another pause on it. The back-and-forth got us thinking: why isn’t election betting okay? If other kinds of betting are largely legal – including sports betting – why isn’t it okay to bet on candidates?
