We are continuing to look at chapter 9 of the NFPA 70B today which focuses on Electrical System Studies. Yesterday (in episode 37) we talked about the first 2 kinds of studies listed in chapter 9- short circuit studies, and coordination studies.

Today we will focus on the other 3 types of studies that chapter 9 talks about-

Load Flow Studies

Reliability Studies

Risk Assessment Studies

Now it’s important to understand that all the studies listed in chapter 9 are as the NFPA states “an integral part of system design, operations, and maintenance.” And remember- copies of each type of study, along with the single line diagrams for the electrical system should be turned over to the facility maintenance department in an effort for them to operate a safe, efficient, and reliable electrical system.
