Elijah's Appeal to the Undecided

Listen Later

Charles Spurgeon preaches about people who try to live halfway between serving God and serving the world, using the story of Elijah confronting the Israelites who worshiped both God and the false god Baal. He argues that it's impossible and foolish to serve both God and worldly pleasures—people who try end up respected by neither Christians nor worldly people, having the duties of religion without its joys and the guilt of sin without its pleasures. Spurgeon urgently calls wavering people to make a clear choice now through God's Holy Spirit, warning that if they don't decide for God in this life, they will be decided against Him at the final judgment when it's too late.

Sermon delivered by Charles Spurgeon on May 31, 1857.
