1 in 6 people have the alternative cognitive learning profile dyslexia, but since its discovery at the turn of the 19th century, the message of what it means to be dyslexic has been scrambled.  Society has focused on what the dyslexic individual cannot do, as opposed to what was originally discovered about what they can do; and that is big picture, complex thinking.  But not all dyslexic individuals have the same learning difficulties, and that is why there are so many stealth dyslexics secretly struggling in our classrooms.
But how do we better support dyslexic learners in the classroom?  First we need to understand dyslexia, know how to challenge the dyslexic mind, and use specific teaching tools to facilitate learning.  With so many potential stealth dyslexics in your classroom you cannot afford not to listen to my latest education game-changer on Inspiration 4 Teachers, Elisheva Shwartz of the Dyslexia Quest Podcast.
