Everyone talks about guest count.
Almost nobody talks about what actually matters.
In today's episode, we're tackling one of the biggest misconceptions in the wedding world:
What's the difference between an elopement and a micro-wedding?
Spoiler alert:
It's not 2 guests versus 20 guests.
In fact, I've seen couples with only two people have a micro-wedding experience, while other couples with a dozen guests were absolutely having an elopement.
The distinction comes down to something much more important:
Are you managing logistics, or are you creating an experience?
In this episode, we explore:
🌿 Why guest count is only one piece of the puzzle
🌿 The common myth that elopements are defined by the number of attendees
🌿 How guest expectations quietly transform the structure of a wedding day
🌿 Why flexibility is one of the defining characteristics of an elopement
🌿 My personal "Rule of 20"
🌿 The question I ask every couple before I tell them whether they're planning an elopement or a micro-wedding
You'll also hear me explain exactly where my own role fits into this conversation.
I help couples create intentional, experience-focused elopements. That means I can absolutely help with a handful of guests.
But if your day requires seating charts, ceremony layouts, arches, transportation logistics, catering coordination, and managing guest expectations, you're moving into micro-wedding territory, and that's a different type of planning altogether.
One sentence summarizes the entire episode:
More guests = more expectations = more logistics. That's when you've crossed the line.
If you're still unsure whether you're planning an elopement or a micro-wedding, don't overthink it.
Head over to my website, fill out the contact form, and tell me what your day looks like.
I'll usually be able to tell within one email.
