Recognize that words have power. Own that power with the following tips:

  1. Take stock of what you say and write them down. Even go so far as to ask another person about the words you abuse.
  2. Based on what you wrote down identify 1) What is self-deprecating and 2) What is over used.
  3. Make a change. 1) Use words that are positive and affirming 2) Determine what you really want to say with your words.
  4. Use words to empower others and yourself.
