The secret to success with email marketing is their subject line. It truly is. I've been in Facebook groups lately, and I see where a lot of people will say things like email marketing is dead. Email marketing, doesn't work. Email marketing is a useless marketing tool. And I say, email marketing can be successful. Email marketing can make you money and email marketing, email marketing can produce results. If you let it, if you let it all you have to do. All you have to do is get people to open your email. That's the secret. But here we are pushing out emails with the subject line that say stupid things like, oh, I provide this service. Do you need this service or our service and the subject line. It's not going to get open. I remember my first foray into email marketing when I realized what I needed to do, which was get down to open the email and understanding that the subject line was the most important part of the email allowed me to go from not getting anybody to open the email, to getting open rates of 20 to 25% on a cold email list. As people that do not know who I am or why I am sending them an email. Those email open rates are crazy good. And here's the thing. If you get 5% open rate and then 10% of the people respond to your email, you're not getting anybody to respond. Let's say you send out a thousand emails, you get a 5% open rate. That's 50 opens, 10% respond, which would be incredible. Only five out of those 1000 responded. But if I can get a 25% open rate and I get 10% of those people to respond, all of a sudden I have 25 qualified prospects because of the subject line. So what do you do? Well, first of all, you test subject lines, test, test, test, test, subject lines, send emails to the same people with different subject lines over time and see which ones they respond to and which ones they don't. Obviously you want to use a system or a software that tells you when someone opens or they don't open. The next thing you do is you get creative with your subject line. I follow a couple of marketers online, one being Billy Jean. Billie Jean is great at subject lines. Some of his subject lines have been things like, will you marry me? Or, Hey Gary, it's my birthday. When it wasn't his birthday or I'm firing myself today, those were three of the most memorable subject lines that I definitely opened those emails and read his copy. But here's the thing I never would have read his copy. If he would have sent me an email that said, Hey, I can help you grow your business. Okay. That's boring. Definitely. And we want to utilize things that are going to catch attention, going to get people to respond. Obviously get people to open your email. So get creative. Finally use the reply and the forward, uh, as part of the subject line R E colon FWD colon, it looks like someone is either replying to your email or forwarding an email to you and those get much higher open rates.
