A native of Duncan, Marcus Lattimore is one of the most influential public figures in South Carolina. Regarded as one of the best high school football players ever, he decided to stay home and play for the University of South Carolina. He exploded onto the scene racking up accolades including being named an All American and National Freshman of the year. Despite suffering two catastrophic knee injuries and only playing in 24 games, he set the school record for career rushing touchdowns with 38. He was still drafted in the 4th round of the 2013 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Due to complications with knee injuries, he never played in a regular-season game.
Marcus is now a speaker and writer in Portland, Oregon where he now lives with his wife Miranda, and dog Mocha. Now, Marcus focuses on personal mentorship and business mentorship as well as speaking engagements to help motivate and inspire. Marcus hopes to help many with his blog on self-reflection and authenticity, his keys to true happiness, and a fulfilled life.
In this episode, we dive into the genesis of Marcus’ football career and what the process was recovering and rehabbing from the major injury he sustained. Marcus shares what it was like letting go of his identity as a football player and finding purpose outside of sports.
