Embracing God’s Original Design for Work
Scripture:
Genesis 1:31 — “And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.”
Devotional:
As we close this first part of the journey, return to the beginning: God created a world where work was good, purposeful, and connected to Him. Before the Fall, work was not something to escape but something to enjoy with God. That original design still shapes His heart for your work today.
You live in a fallen world where work is often frustrating—but the goodness of God’s design has not disappeared. In Christ, you are invited to recover glimpses of Eden in your everyday labor: meaning in your tasks, partnership with God, creativity, stewardship, service, and joy. Your work is not separate from your spiritual life; it is a central place where your faith is lived out.
As you move forward into themes of brokenness, redemption, relationships, calling, and mission, remember this foundation: work began as a blessing. You were created to reflect God’s image through what you do.
Reflection Questions:
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for designing work as something good and meaningful. Help me hold onto Your original purpose, even in a broken world. As I continue this journey, teach me to see my work through Your eyes and to walk with You in all I do. Amen.
