Embracing Openness with Paul Simard

Listen Later

In this episode, Paul shares his journey from unexpectedly losing his job which was pivotal to his role within his family and his identity as a provider for the family. He began by googling what it was to be a good husband which eventually lead to learning what it was to be a good man.

  1. How a true understanding of embodiment and how our physical bodies are the vessels that hold and express who we are to the world. Even our voice does not happen without the body doing certain things and voice changes based on how the body feels at a certain moment.
  2. The danger with spiritual work is that we are always looking for something outside of ourselves when really everything that we need already lives within us. Asking how do you get to the place where you feel that you have full permission to show up the way you want to show up and readiness to deal with the consequences.
  3. Humans are the only creatures that hold onto trauma, as humans, we have been taught that "boys don't cry" "man up" and that due to this we have to use other ways to release the trauma that our bodies hold onto whether through, breath work, myofascial release, or shaking.
