"Embracing Work"

Listen Later

Hello Friends and Family! Welcome on this Labor Day weekend. Today we kick off the series we’re calling, “Work: More Than Making A Living.” I have been surprised as I began the preparation for this series how much the Bible talks about work and how important our work is to God. I was surprised at how different the Bible’s view of work seems to be than what our work culture seems to say.In fact, the biggest difference is that the Bible doesn’t really look at work as a way to make a living. Sure, making a living is part of work, and we all need to work to provide for our families, but work is much more. It’s actually about making a life. Work is central to who God made us to be. I believe you’ll want to be here each week of this series because every Sunday we will take a different approach to explaining this thing we all do.This series will apply and be relevant whatever stage of life you’re in. I especially want to encourage those who are retired or not currently employed to make this series a priority because you’ll learn some things that go beyond what you do to earn a paycheck. You’ll see how work is for everyone no matter their employment status. Today we will talk about some of the more basic aspects of work. We will look at what God expects from both employees and employers. While you’re here today, I invite you to stop by our Next Step Bookstore to look at the books I picked to help us in our journey with God. You can also pick up some Lanna Coffee. The proceeds of each purchase go to help the Northern Hill Tribes of Thailand who grow the coffee for their livelihood and benefit our Student Ministries Scholarship Fund.I dream of making a life that matters.Pastor Ron
