Wominjeka. Hello, I am Samsara and I am here to tell you about the grand opening of the Emerald Hill Coffee Palace. Come on in and enjoy a coffee of your choice. We have something for everyone!
Emerald Hill Coffee Palace opens on 24 July and everybody is welcome. Our coffee menu is a collection of creative responses to the history of the iconic Temperance Hall in Napier Street South Melbourne.
Head to one of the wonderful coffee houses in Emerald Hill – The Ambitious Act for example – place your coffee order, put on your headphones, and select the corresponding track in your favourite podcatcher.
Are you in the mood for a laugh? Then why not try the mocha or even the frappe…?
Perhaps you are the kind of person who likes a good dose of history with your brew? In that case, can I recommend the espresso or, perhaps, the flat white?
We even have a lovely bobbaccino for the kiddies.

Find out what happened when the first English tall ship entered Port Phillip in 1802. Discover the history of the Temperance movement in Melbourne. Have a laugh as actors try and make European theatre in Australia and discover Napier Streets very own theatre ghost. Enjoy a bit of poetry and discover more about Philip Adam’s Ballet Lab and spend the day singing along with the kids, learning all about the colour green.
Emerald Hill Coffee Palace is part of the Thrive Festival taking place live across the Emerald Hill precinct in South Melbourne on 24th July and has been created and performed by PATE – the Planet Arts Theatrical Ensemble. This project has been made possible through the support of The City of Port Phillip and Arts Access Victoria Thrive Creative Grants for deaf and disabled artists.
