If you’ve been around Emmaus for more than five minutes, you know we love this season. The lights, the music, the cold-ish South Carolina weather…all of it. But more than anything, we love what Advent invites us to remember.

This Sunday we begin our new series Hopes & Fears—a walk through the stories that surround the birth of Jesus and remind us where hope actually comes from.

It seems like Christmas decorations went up earlier than ever this year… and honestly, we’re not mad about it.But before we jump into Advent, we’re taking this Sunday to slow down a bit, breathe, and talk about the kind of gratitude that helps us enter the season well.

Annie Dillard reminds us, “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”Most of us check the clock a hundred times a day… but far fewer of us stop to ask the deeper question: How am I actually spending the time I’ve been given?This Sunday we’re looking at the wisdom of the scriptures and reflecting on what’s true about us, our lives, and the time we have.
