There isn’t much that can take you back quite like the music you listened to growing up. Hear a song you loved when you were younger and boom—you’re back there. A moment you hadn’t thought about in years.Music doesn’t just sound good…it does something to us. It sticks. It shapes. It takes us somewhere.This Sunday, we’re going to look at a song like that. Not one that takes us back to our past—but one that takes us back to our shared past…to the very beginning of the Jesus movement. Many believe it’s one of the earliest hymns the church ever sang.And it just might help us rediscover what made this whole thing so radical in the first place…and why it still matters today.

We all have a defining story. A story that tells us who we are, why we are here, and where all of this is headed. Nothing will shape your life more than the defining story you choose to trust in.So why not trust in a defining story that has been changing people's lives for nearly 2k years? A story about how good things can, and do, start during dark times. A story about empty tombs, fresh starts, and new beginnings.

Some of us are really good at keeping score. Who showed up. Who didn’t. Who said the thing. Who should’ve known better. And if we’re honest…we don’t just keep score for others. We keep it for ourselves too.This Sunday, we’re stepping into a moment in the life of Jesus where all of that gets turned upside down.
It’s a story about forgiveness, but maybe not in the way you’ve heard it before. It’s about tears, awkward silence, judgment in the room…and a kind of love that refuses to play by the usual rules.
