The Sonship Place

Emotional Maturity as Effectual Work Not Effort

Listen Later

Remaining soft in a hard world is not a personality trait to develop. It is the fruit of a mind being actively renewed by the Holy Spirit.

This conversation traces how cultural hardness, inherited through colonialism, slavery, migration, and the daily grind of survival, becomes the default posture sons bring into their relationship with God. The specific tension addressed is what happens when self-correction tips into self-condemnation: the withdrawal from prayer, the silence that is not rest but malice, the posture that is already saying something even when no words are spoken. The teaching draws out how symbols of authority shaped by oppression, government officials, school matrons, angry fathers, corrupt systems, distort the way we hear God's voice and receive his correction. Ephesians 3 grounds the argument that God's nature exceeds every frame of reference formed in hard places, and that softness received is the only softness that can be given.

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 3:20
