Educational and Easily Understandable

This book is a wonderful introduction and explanation of Bioenergetic therapy, the background and purpose of Bioenergetic therapy in conjunction with Psychoanalytic therapy.

This book is an educational tool for the reader to learn about Bioenergetics and the author is clear that this book is not intended as a self help book. I appreciate the authors approach in explaining, several times throughout the book that this therapy should be explored with a therapist who is qualified and trained in Bioenergetics.

A very insightful and understandable read for anyone.

I don't like the title

This is a different sort of self-help book, because it doesn't really tell you what to think or how to live. Instead, it explains the benefits of psychoanalysis and bioenergetics. This is an interesting pairing of therapies, because psychoanalysis is very conceptual, while bioenergetics is a very effective form of bodywork that increases feeling by increasing energy. I don't like the title, because I don't think there will ever be such a thing as "emotional utopia." Still, the author's deep personal experience in both forms of therapies gives her a unique therapeutic vantage point. I wish there was more practical information, because often this book sounds more like a sales pitch for these forms of therapy than something that a reader can apply on his or her own.

A great starter book for investigating the reasons to go into ...

A great starter book for investigating the reasons to go into therapy in general and Bioenergetic Bodywork Analysis in particular. Clear, concise, and easy to read. It gives case studies of how this style of analysis unlocks the dynamics of how emotion impacts the body. Stress and trauma effect muscle memory as much as any other learned behavior...and this books explores how dealing with the body in conjunction with the mind can allow for more holistic change. An excellent resource for therapists and clients alike.

Great introduction to Bioenergetics

I am not an unhappy person, nor one who has often visited a counselor or therapist, but I read this book in about two days and found it spoke to me. It is accessible to a lay person with an interest in how one's own, and other's, minds work. It offers an introduction to the physical and mental connections that create one's world view and it offers options for making life more fulfilling.

Born to Learn

I enjoyed her writing because it gave a realistic view on how to approach your journey to "happiness." The definition of it alone was a breakthrough for me. Much of what she describes throughout the book is a journey of self reflection.
