DSACO: Up for Discussion

Employed, Empowered, Included with Megan & Courtney Pt.2

Listen Later

In this episode of DSACO: Up for Discussion, we continue our employment series with a real-life success story.

Last episode, we introduced Megan Wilson, DSACO’s Employment Services Specialist, and discussed how employment services work through DRS contracts and individualized support.

This week, we move from explanation to experience.

Megan is joined by Courtney — her very first client working under contract — to share what employment looks like in action. Courtney opens up about starting her job, building confidence, learning new skills, and what earning her own paycheck means to her.

Together, they talk about:

  • What “working under contract” really means
  • The preparation and coaching that happens behind the scenes
  • Overcoming nerves and building confidence
  • The importance of meaningful, competitive employment
  • How inclusive hiring benefits businesses and the community
  • Why employment is about more than just a paycheck

This episode highlights something powerful: when individuals are given the right support and opportunity, they thrive.

Employment builds independence. Employment builds dignity. Employment builds confidence.
