My guest today is High-Vibe Artist and Thought Leader, Shariya Wise. 

In 2020, I began to search for a way to truly live in joy. I'd been depressed for the entirety of my 47 years, and I accepted at that point the awesome responsibility before me: change or die. As you might surmise, I changed. 

A huge part of what has allowed me to thrive (for the first time ever) in the years since has been my dedication to changing my habits. Prior to 2020, I carried around an arsenal of habits to protect myself - at least that's what I thought. With that janky suit of armor constructed of copious booze, sarcasm, snark, and pessimism, I thought I'd be safe. I wasn't. 

Now I endeavor to live my life (as much as possible) by a Soul-Lit - meaning I don't consume or do anything that doesn't light my soul on fire. 

One thing that lights my soul on fire is high-vibe music. I've written about it at length, and on the first season of Empower Your Magical Self, two of my favorite high-vibe artists (Toni Jones and Peachkka) joined me as guests. 

Today my guest is Shariya Wise, another high-vibe artist whose music is in heavy rotation at Casa de Mystic Autistic. Good news! She has an album coming out on November 22nd with Chris n Teeb. In this episode, Shariya and I talk about living the life you want, regulating your nervous system, and magic.

Welcome to the second season of Empower Your Magical Self. My hope is that it provides a bit of respite for you in the midst of a mad, mad world. 

It's episode 13 - the final episode - of Empower Your Magical Self's first season! Instead of inviting another guest, I put together some great clips from each of the dozen episodes we've had so far.

"I feel like magic is being willing to reside in the mystery…we're so conditioned to look at everything through the lens of our intellect and understand things, like 'I need to understand it in order to buy in' or 'it needs to make sense to in order for me to believe it.' And magic is just willing to behold - in the origin of everything is the mystery. It is incomprehensible, and that is completely magic and…it's very ordinary. We all come from the mystery and magic and it's like being able to look through eyes of wonder and curiosity…life is just regenerative and it really is ordinary, but we get to participate in it when we're present and curious.

"Magic is a choice. it comes from within…So let me get into the science of it just really fast. when you’re depressed you actually don’t process colors the same way… the brightness of the tones that you see becomes very narrow when you’re depressed. So the world that very depressed people see is a lot more bland than what people who are vibrant and in a good part of their life see. So knowing that, it’s important to reframe the world around you. That’s why I have these strategically placed little bits of joy — because it’s so easy to fall into that bland way of seeing. And you have to make a decision for yourself — “that’s not what I want to see.”

November 15th is exactly one month before my 51st birthday.

Magic is something that's out of the ordinary…it's extraordinary. I feel like in energy work, even people on their first day of Reiki 1 just learning how to do stuff - they experience magic. So It doesn't have to be that rarified. It can be on a daily basis - and some of it, I suppose, is learning - we use the word "awareness" a lot in this conversation - how to be aware enough, present enough - in the moment, actually breathing. So you're here in the moment when you recognize when the magic happens.

Magic is when you start to love yourself. When you shift the perception of "everything is out to get you" to "everything is for you." When you understand that truly, you are a magician and that you are the creator of your universe. That is when magic happens. Like I said, I didn't get lucky all of a sudden, I just changed my mindset. And when I told the universe, I'm ready to accept all the good things that you want to give me. That's when it started happening. If you're sitting in a low vibration, where you're not ready to accept things, the universe cannot give it to you.

Magic is faith and experimentation in the invisible.
