Lori Townsend is the News Director for the Alaska Public Radio Network. She got her start in broadcasting at the age of 11 as the park announcer of the fastpitch baseball games in Deer Park, Wisconsin and has worked in print and broadcast journalism for more than 18 years. Radio brought her to Alaska, where she worked as a broadcast trainer for Native fellowship students at Koahnic Broadcasting and later helped co-found the non-profit Native Voice Communications.

Nellie Moore is the former host and producer of National Native News and has been involved in Alaska journalism for nearly four decades. An Inupiaq Eskimo born in Kotzebue, she’s the recipient of numerous journalism honors, including the 2001 Wassaja Award, the highest honor awarded by the Native American Journalists Association, for “extraordinary service to Native Journalism.”
