Good evening dear listeners and welcome to the fourthTSF1 Podcast for the 2024 World Endurance Championship season, this time for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In this episode, we delve into the dramatic events that unfolded during the latest endurance race. From the very first lap, Ferrari #50 & #51 set the pace, immediately putting pressure on the Penske Porsche team. The race witnessed BMW #20 going off at the final chicane on the first lap, setting the tone for a series of incidents. Both Lamborghinis spun out right after driver changes, and the #3 Cadillac narrowly avoided a serious crash after sliding in the S-curves.

Mechanical issues plagued the #35 Alpine Hypercar, forcing it to retire at the Mulsanne corner, while its sister car barely made it to the pits and didn't return. The #85 Huracan of the Iron Dames team went off after a collision with the Penske Hypercar Porsche 963. Contact between the #15 BMW and the #83 Ferrari resulted in a crash that brought out the first safety car for an hour.

Rossi’s #46 BMW also exited the race after going off. Nighttime conditions were challenging, with the safety car deployed for a total of 4 hours due to foggy windshields. The #24 LMP2 of Proton Competition crashed into the barriers due to the slick track conditions at dawn, and similar fate befell the Porsche 963 #4 of Penske at the Porsche Curves.

The #27 Aston Martin Vantage's barrel roll after a heavy rear-end impact brought out another safety car. The IMSA Cadillac #311 exited the race after a heavy impact around noon. A fire from the front electric motor or electronics forced the #83 Ferrari 499P out of the race during a pit stop.

Tension peaked when the #51 499P made contact with the #8 Toyota, causing the latter to lose a critical position in the battle against the #50 499P. The race concluded with the #50 narrowly having enough fuel to win, while the battle between the #51 and the #7 kept the outcome uncertain until the very end. Let's discuss more, in the podcast.
