Starting with humans is complex, especially for many technology organisations. Our bread and butter are systems, processes, and data, not messy and often nuanced human beings. However, there’s a significant benefit to Human Centered Design (HCD): if you design something for the human that uses it, it’s far more likely to be adopted. Therein lies the most significant benefit to adopting HCD: it avoids delivering what amounts to a successful failure, a well-delivered system that no one uses as intended.
