We kicked off a new series on John’s gospel and encounters with Jesus. This first one, told in John 2, shows us how much Jesus was into joy… Before he does anything else, Jesus turns water into wine and it wasn’t just a miracle - it was a sign of who he is, what he came to do, how he’ll take anything we offer and bring joy from it. Jesus introduces himself here as the kind of Messiah who likes abundance and celebration and goodness as well as justice, mercy and holiness. So how does this differ from happiness? And how does it differ from the christian life we might have come to expect?
