When we marched on Saturday, loads of us from Bread felt boosted by the possibility that change can happen. This city needs change, and we don’t see anything else in the life and person of Jesus. He changed everything. What would be the point of all this otherwise? The story of Jesus clearing the temple courts is one told in all the gospels, and it’s where we probably see most clearly that religion really does make him mad. But John (as always) has another point to make. Jesus came to replace the old, to bring in the new, and to change everything for everyone forever… We looked a bit at the meaning of the temple, it’s history and it’s layout (which was even more interesting than it sounds, we promise!)
