Today we are looking at Hebrews Chapter 12:5-7 and the encouragement given to bear up under discipline.
𝗠𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱: Emphasizes the likeness of the believer to the Father, resembling His character more and more by living in faith. (God’s inwrought persuasions) 𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘎𝘰𝘥. Highlights the legal right to the Father’s inheritance, as the believer lives in conformity with the Father’s nature.
𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗲: Neglect, keep on neglecting the training of the Lord, nor go on becoming undone when you are internally convicted by Him.
𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: Instruction that trained someone to reach full development, maturity.
𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁: Loose, release, grow weary, let’s completely out – as to entirely succumb with the outcome of losing inner strength – to become weary, exhausted to the point of fainting.
𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱: To convince with solid, compelling evidence especially to expose, to prove wrong.
𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗛𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀: A child under development with strict training so that they mature and realize their full potential, development. This requires necessary discipline which includes administering chastisement.
𝗛𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀: God sending severe pain in the best eternal interests of the believer.
𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗻: see above 𝗠𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱
𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: openly, welcoming with personal interests to receive, to take upon oneself.
𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲: Stay behind, wait, remain under, bearing up by God’s power, being steadfast especially as God enables the believer to remain under his discipline.
Child of Me, you who have full rights to claim the inheritance I have set aside for you…
Child of Me, who looks more and more like Me every day as you choose to live by faith, empowered by My faith…
Child of Me, who lives in conformity with my own nature…
Don’t despise, don’t neglect intentionally My teaching and don’t become undone when I convict you through My Holy Spirit living within you, nor become undone or neglect the instruction necessary to bring you to full maturity…
Child of Me, don’t faint, don’t entirely succumb and lose all your inner strength or become weary to the point of exhaustion and fainting when I expose with compelling evidence where you are wrong…
Because I love you, I discipline you, I have put you under strict training so that you mature and realize your full potential – chastisement is part of the means to get you there - even severe pain to mature faith and realize full potential is necessary for all those whom I claim as My children and take to Myself.…
Trust me when I say it’s in your best interest to receive this discipline because I have your best in mind.…
So by My power and strength within you – through Holy Spirit – you must endure this discipline, you must stay behind it, bear up under it, remain steadfast…
The very Spirit Who testifies you are My child is the One Who will expose where you are wrong, Who will discipline you with suffering and He will give you the grace to stand up under it all so that you grow up into full maturity and full potential. Receive His strength to remain and not faint – maturity and My likeness will be the result.…
This is the endurance Jesus received through Holy Spirit when He was on the cross… And the same Holy Spirit who empowered Jesus to remain under the discipline of the suffering of the cross is the same Spirit Who will empower you to bear up under this light and momentary trial.
