Acts 23:1-11; 2 Corinthians 12:7; Matthew 23: 25-28.
In this chapter of Acts, Paul is brought before the Sanhedrin to explain himself. He began his argument but was abruptly struck in the mouth by a bystander on the orders of Ananias, the high priest. Upset by this, Paul called him a "whitewashed wall," but he didn't realize that Ananias was the high priest, so he partially apologized for his outburst.
Following this interruption, Paul continued with his argument, stating that he was a Pharisee and believed in the resurrection. This declaration caused a division in the council: the Pharisees supported Paul, while the Sadducees opposed him, as they did not believe in the resurrection, angels, or spirits.
After the uproar, the Roman commander intervened, rescuing Paul and bringing him back to the barracks. There, Jesus encouraged him not to give up, reminding him of the importance of continuing to share the message of resurrection and of Jesus with the Romans.
Jesus is always close to us, even when we face trials of various kinds. He serves as our encourager, rescuing us so we can be His witnesses to all people, no matter where He places us. He stands beside us, ensuring we do not lose heart; instead, He wants us to grow in faith, boldness, and hope by sharing His message of new life in Him.
