This week on the Encourager’s United Podcast, I got the chance to sit down with Bob Dean, a passionate Coach, administrator and family man, whose career has taken him to a varied array of experiences with private and public education, where he simply couldn’t help himself but to get involved and make a difference.
Bob Dean is currently the Pioneer Development Officer for Malone University in Canton, Ohio. He specializing in fundraising efforts for the Pioneer athletic department, which competes at the NCAA Division II level. From 2015 to 2018, he served as the Director of Athletics & Activities for the Crestwood Local Schools. He spent the previous 11 years as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach & Student-Athlete Affairs Administrator for Hiram College. Prior to Hiram, Bob was the first full-time alcohol & drug abuse prevention professional employed in a public school in Ohio and spent 17 years as the Student Assistance Administrator and Head Women’s Soccer Coach for the Hudson City Schools in Hudson, Ohio. Bob has trained and spoken in over 700 different school districts around the nation. As a coach, he was recognized by his peers as the Ohio High School Div. I Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1998 and was privileged to lead his teams to the Ohio Div. I State Championship in 2000. He currently serves as an Associate Board Member for the Cleveland Chapter of the Positive Coaching Alliance. Bob is a graduate of Kent State University, holds two national coaching certifications from the United States Soccer Federation as well as the Royal Dutch Football Federation. He and his wife, Sally, their 21-year-old daughter, Abby, and 18-year-old son, Ryan, live in Kent, Ohio.
