Two Cases In One -- Homicide And EcoTerrorism
Endangered Species is the eighth in the Gabe Wager mystery series. Wager is the standard good cop who breaks cases due to his work ethic and insight without taking the easy way out.
In this book, Wager begins by investigating a body found in a house fire. This turns into a homicide investigation as the body (not that of the home's renter) was dead before the fire.
It turns out that the body was that of an FBI informer in a known group of ecoterrorists. Here Wager gets involved with the FBI investigation, which leads to his preventing a very nasty terrorist plot (with the help of the local street gangs and other informants).
This book was a decent read. The two stories entwined gave the book a few more dimensions than the other Wager book that I read. The terrorist actions gave the book a bit more "importance" than a standard detective book.
Still even with that the book doesn't rise above the 3 star level.
