WE HAVE AN ENEMY

Ephesians 6:10-13    Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.    NIV

John 10:10   The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.   NIV

THE DEVIL IS REAL.

Revelation 12:7-9   And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down — that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.   NIV

THE DEVIL IS AT WAR WITH US.

1 Peter 5:8-9   Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.     New Living 

THE DEVIL IS LOOKING FOR AN OPENING.

Ephesians 4:26-27    "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.       NIV

Foothold - topos (top'-os)   a spot occupy.

BATTLING DARKNESS

DON’T TREAT OUR ENEMY LIGHTLY.

Jude 9    But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, "The Lord rebuke you!" (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses' body.)      New Living 

LOOK FOR A WAY OF ESCAPE.

1 Corinthians 10:12-13   If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.        New Living 

DON’T FIGHT WITH OUR POWER BUT WITH GOD’S AUTHORITY.

James 4:7-8   So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.      New Living 

DON’T FIGHT FOR VICTORY BUT FROM VICTORY!!!!

1 John 4:4   You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.       NIV
