“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.”

These are probably the hardest verses to read and obey. Why? Because we tend to love conditionally. Our enemies do not treat us well, are rude, speak painful words that cut us to our core, do not love us, and many times they are just plain evil. It’s really easy to love those that love us and treat us well. It’s difficult to love someone who only shows you hate and contempt.
