In 1818, the world was introduced to the Frankenstein Monster. Frankenstein’s creation was assembled from old body parts and strange chemicals and animated by a spark. Mary Shelly’s monster has taken on numerous incarnations through the years, spawning comics, TV shows and never-ending supply of movies. The story of a scientist who creates a horrible monster using electricity has largely been thought of as a cautionary tale, but perhaps Mary Shelly was ahead of her time in understanding the role electricity plays in keeping the human body healthy.

We’ve come a long way since 1818 in our understanding of how the human body uses energy. But how has that knowledge helped us shape practical tools to improve overall health. The answer is PEMF, or pulsed electromagnetic field.
