Being on the outskirts, or worse rejected is not desirable in the minds of most.  Almost every human being knows what it is like to not be accepted, and it hurts.  Although some may falsely see God as one who is far off we see a track record of One who seeks to be near to us.  God truly wants us to find peace at His side, to be members of His household, to be joined together with Him.
