En este episodio, vamos a hablar del inglés como un lenguaje global (hasta el minuto 27). Además, compararemos y contrastaremos las similitudes y diferencias entre el North American English (NAE) y el Standard British English (SBE).

    • Vowel /ɒ/ is not part of the inventory of NAE
    • /eə,ɪə, ʊə/ + /r/ --> practically absent in NAE (they drop the /ə/)
    • /w/ (BrE) vs /hw/ (AmE)
    • /r, t/ --> British = non-rhotic: bird /bɜ:d/ vs American = rhotic /bɜ:rd/
    • /t/ tends to be dropped after "n" and followed by a weak vowel: twenty, entertain, interaction
    • voiced flapped or tapped /t/ (NAE) --> city [sɪɾi] vs BrE = [sɪti]. The same happens with "rt" --> party, forty, etc
    • Dark or clear /l/: BrE followed by a consonant or a semivowel. Lilly = [ɫɪɫi]
    • Semivowels /w,j/ --> BrE new /nju:/ vs AmE new /nu:/
    • Others --> past BrE = /pɑːst/ vs AmE= /pæst/ ; path BrE /pɑːθ/ vs AmE= /pæθ/
    • Ending -ile --> fertile BrE /fɜ:taɪl/ vs AmE /fɜ:rtəl/
    • Spelt "er" --> clerk BrE = /klɑːk/ vs AmE /klɜ:rk/
